Evan Brechtel is a writer living in New York City. A Mississippi native and Fordham University graduate, he maintains a monthly column for Chosen Magazine examining the parallels between modern queer culture and queer history with an emphasis on Pre-Stonewall eras. In addition to this column, Evan writes political reports for Second Nexus, video scripts for the popular Facebook channel George Takei Presents, and social digests for sites like Percolately and Guacamoley. He’s currently working on a collection of short historical fiction exploring queer New York nightlife from 1899 to 2016. His favorite writers include Jonathan Safran-Foer, George Chauncey, Dorothy Parker, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Gore Vidal, John Rechy, and Ta-Nehisi Coates. One of his most fervent ambitions is to be a regular columnist for a queer publication like The Advocate or them, as well as to be a contributor for the New York Times, his favorite paper.
